The Espana Hotel is a newly opened (2010) 4-star hotel situated in Barcelona's historical centre, located next to Las Ramblas and the Gran Teatre del Liceu. It is considered an architectural masterpiece of Catalan modernism. Originally decorated at the beginning of the 20th century by Lluis Domenech i Montaner , it has been completely refurbished and provides an optimal design and comfort, offering an exquisite and personalised service. The hotel boasts a rooftop outdoor swimming pool with panoramic views of the historical centre. The spacious sun terrace with sun beds is perfect for relaxation in the heart of the city. The hotel’s trendy Bar Arnau, combining Modernist elements with contemporary design, is a great place for meeting up for a drink or a snack. The bar takes its name from the splendid alabaster fireplace, sculpted in 1901 by the famous artist Eusebi Arnau. The hotel’s restaurant, located in the Modernist dining room, offers traditional cuisine with modern touch that is presented imaginatively and uses the best ingredients available. The hotel offers 82 comfortable guest rooms. Standard rooms range in size from 15 to 21sqm and are decorated in a contemporary style. They have external street views or overlook the beautiful inner courtyard. All rooms feature the latest modern amenities including a 32-inch plasma TV, iPod dock and Wi-Fi or wired internet. The rooms also feature a work desk, free minibar and full length mirror.
